Lu Yan and a silent monk begin to train Jason in kung fu, teaching him not just physical techniques but also philosophical concepts about martial arts and self-discovery. Golden Sparrow reveals her tragic past and her motivation to kill the Warlord.
The group is confronted by the Witch Assassin, an agent of the Jade Warlord, who attempts to steal the staff. Lu Yan is gravely injured, requiring Jason to retrieve the elixir of immortality from the Jade Warlord.
Jason and Golden Sparrow enter the Jade Warlord's palace, where the Warlord offers the elixir as a prize in a martial challenge. Golden Sparrow fights to avenge her family, and a massive battle ensues involving all the heroes against the Warlord's army and the Witch Assassin.
During the intense battle, Jason manages to return the staff to the Monkey King, who is freed from his stone prison. The Monkey King, along with Jason and his allies, defeats the Jade Warlord and the Witch Assassin, though Golden Sparrow tragically dies avenging her family.
With the prophecy fulfilled, Jason desires to return home. The Jade Emperor grants his wish, and Jason finds himself back in Boston. He uses his newfound skills to confront the gang that initially caused his journey, showcasing his growth.
Jason continues to practice kung fu, having learned valuable lessons and found his own path. The film concludes by stating that while the Monkey King embarks on a new journey, Jason walks the path of a warrior in his own world.
