Begin by using a grid box to find the 'nm' position on the chart. Then, align the tracing to its exact location using latitude and longitude guides from both the tracing and the chart. Identify the buoy and description needing deletion.

Remove the tracing and, using a magenta 0.25 pen and a ruler, delete the description with a double strikethrough over the text. Also, delete the buoy's color and flare using diagonal double strikethroughs.

Place the tracing back over the chart to confirm that the correct buoy and description have been deleted. Once all updates are applied, record the 'nm' update number in the chart's Notices to Mariners section in the bottom left corner.
