Summary
Highlights
Michael and Mackenzie introduce their challenge: to find three random items in a large shopping center as quickly as possible. Michael's items are shoelaces, an enamel pin, and a PopSocket. Mackenzie believes these items will take Michael at least 15 minutes to find.
Michael struggles to find shoelaces. He checks Skechers and Nike, both shoe stores, but neither sells shoelaces individually. He contemplates buying an entire pair of shoes just for the laces but deems it too expensive. Mackenzie, waiting outside, observes his lack of success.
Michael finally finds shoelaces at Build-A-Bear, attached to mini shoes. He decides to buy the shoes for $9 and present only the laces to Mackenzie to maintain legitimacy. He expresses relief at finding one item but realizes he's in the wrong part of the mall for his other items.
Michael moves to a different section of the mall, hoping to find a PopSocket at Barnes & Noble or Five Below, and an enamel pin at stores like Tilly's. He's out of breath and frustrated by the time wasted.
Michael finds what he thinks is an enamel pin at Hot Topic after a long wait in line. He acquires it, but Mackenzie later informs him it's a regular metal pin, not the specified enamel pin, meaning he has to continue his search for that item.
Michael heads to Five Below for the PopSocket, finding the store overwhelming and chaotic. After a frantic search, he eventually locates the PopSockets in the electronics section, realizing he had just missed them moments before.
After finding the wrong pin, Michael's clock resets. He revisits the idea of the Paper Store, which he remembers from a previous video. After some misdirection and confirmation with passersby, he finds the Paper Store and successfully identifies and purchases a legitimate enamel pin, finishing his challenge in just under an hour.
Two days later, Mackenzie begins her challenge. Her items are popcorn, a CD, and an analog clock. Michael's strategy is for her to get the popcorn first, an easy item, but then have to carry it around, slowing her down. He predicts she'll need to visit stores like Best Buy and Office Depot.
Mackenzie initially goes to the Paper Store but realizes her items aren't there. She then makes a prank phone call to Michael, pretending she got hurt, which he finds genuinely concerning before she reveals it's a joke and asks for a reminder of her items and rules.
Mackenzie successfully finds a CD at Barnes & Noble, despite contemplating looking for an analog clock there instead. She moves on to Ross and TJ Maxx, hoping to find an analog clock, while considering getting her popcorn next.
Mackenzie faces an extremely long line at TJ Maxx, fearing it will cost her the challenge. She gives herself two minutes to find an analog clock and eventually locates a Winnie the Pooh analog clock. She confirms with other shoppers that it qualifies as an analog clock before getting in the long line.
After a lengthy wait in line at TJ Maxx, Mackenzie realizes she has less than 10 minutes to get popcorn and return to Michael. She jogs to the movie theater, quickly buys popcorn, and races back, spilling some along the way.
Mackenzie returns and successfully beats Michael's time with 55 minutes and 9 seconds. Michael validates all her items: popcorn, a Winnie the Pooh analog clock, and a classical Christmas CD, declaring her the winner.
