Malibu struggles to adapt to the rigorous schedule and competitive environment. During a class, they meet the mysterious 'L' who turns out to be Emmy, a famous singer and old friend of Brooklyn's. Emmy is disguised to be taken seriously as an actress, away from her pop star persona.

During a warm-up, Malibu accidentally bumps into Brooklyn, causing Brooklyn to injure her ankle. Mr. Miller uses this as an opportunity to frame Malibu, leading Dean Morison to believe Malibu intentionally caused the injury. Malibu is expelled from the program due to this false accusation.
Brooklyn, influenced by her father, also believes Malibu intentionally hurt her, leading to a hurtful confrontation between the two friends. Feeling alone and misunderstood, Malibu prepares to return home. However, Rafa, who had been filming the class, realizes the accident was truly accidental and gets the video to Emmy, who then shows it to Brooklyn.
Brooklyn sees the video proof and realizes Malibu was innocent, confronting her father about his manipulative actions. Dean Morison is also shown the video evidence, and Malibu is re-admitted to the academy. Brooklyn travels to Malibu's home in California to apologize and bring her back, reuniting their friendship.
