Welcome to the first English 1 class for Cyberdefense. The goal is to comprehend specific texts related to the field, starting with simple concepts and progressing to more complex ones.
Paratextual elements, everything surrounding the text itself, help anticipate the reading. These include covers, abstracts, prologues, titles, author information, foot notes, illustration and graphics.
Paratexts are divided into iconic (images, illustrations) and verbal (titles, subtitles, indexes). They serve as guides and help generate hypotheses about the text's content.
The first assignment involves identifying paratextual elements in a selected text and hypothesizing about its content. An autoevaluation with answers will be available.
The selected text contains many paratextual elements to facilitate this exercise, even though it is 12 pages long.
