Railway Engineering Graduate Scheme (REGS)

The Railway Engineering Graduate Scheme (REGS) is managed by the Rail Delivery Group to support mechanical and electrical engineering graduates in starting careers within UK rail companies. Accredited by the IMEchE and IET, the scheme provides a fast-track pathway for participants to achieve Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Applicants must hold an IMEchE or IET accredited MEng or BEng degree. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate practical skills, team collaboration, self-motivation, and geographic mobility. While prior rail industry knowledge is not required, participants will engage in fleet maintenance, design, and construction tasks while working toward permanent engineering roles.

The program provides participants with a senior industry mentor to oversee progress and guidance toward professional certification. Interested candidates can apply by submitting a CV and cover letter to the Rail Delivery Group, which facilitates applications to various partner train companies throughout the year.
