How It Works
Paste the Page URL
Copy the address of any public web page — a blog post, a documentation page, a report or a product page — and paste it into the box above.
Shorty Strips the Clutter
Shorty downloads the page and removes its scripts, menus, header, footer and sidebars, so the AI reads the page's content rather than its navigation.
Read the Key Points
A title, a short overview and titled sections covering the main points come back, usually in seconds.
Why Use Shorty to Summarize Web Pages?
Content, Not Menus
Navigation, headers, footers, sidebars and scripts are stripped before summarizing, so none of them end up in your summary.
Tells You Why a Page Failed
A page that is forbidden, missing, unreachable or behind a login, CAPTCHA or cookie wall gets a plain explanation, not a summary of the error page.
113 Summary Languages
Choose the language the summary is written in, whatever language the page itself uses.
How the Webpage Summarizer Handles a URL
What you can paste
Any public web address. Links wrapped in a Facebook, Instagram or Google redirect are unwrapped to the page they point at before anything is fetched. Pasted text that is not a link goes to the Text Summarizer instead.
Pages it cannot summarize
Shorty reads the HTML the site sends and does not run JavaScript. A page that builds its text in the browser, or a paywall that serves only a teaser, leaves too little text to summarize, and Shorty reports that instead of guessing.
Pages that answer "forbidden" or "not found", addresses that do not resolve, and pages that show a login form, CAPTCHA or cookie-consent wall instead of their content each end with a message naming the reason. Very large downloads and adult sites are refused.
What comes back
A title, a one-paragraph overview and titled sections. The sections carry no timestamps or page numbers, because a web page has neither. The page's own preview image, or its first image, becomes the thumbnail. The summary can be written in any of 113 languages, including one the page is not written in.
An unusually long page is trimmed before it reaches the model, so the last part of a very long page may be missing from its summary.
Starting a Compost Pile at Home
A practical guide to building a backyard compost pile: what to add, how to keep it working and how to tell when it is ready to use.
Balance greens and browns
Mix nitrogen-rich scraps with dry leaves or cardboard; a pile that smells is usually short on browns.
Keep it damp and turn it
The pile should feel like a wrung-out sponge, and turning it every week or two keeps it from compacting.
Signs it is finished
Finished compost is dark, crumbly and smells of soil, with no recognisable scraps left.
Shorty fetches the page behind any public URL, strips its menus, header, footer and sidebars, and summarizes what is left into a title, an overview and titled sections. It says why when a page cannot be read, and it is free with no account needed.

Frequently asked questions
- How does Shorty summarize a web page?
- Shorty fetches the page at the URL you paste, strips its scripts, menus, header, footer and sidebars, and returns a structured summary of the readable text that is left. It works on news articles, blog posts, documentation and long-form essays.
- Why could Shorty not summarize a web page?
- Shorty reads the HTML a site sends without running JavaScript, so a page that builds its text in the browser, a paywall teaser, or a login, CAPTCHA or cookie-consent wall leaves nothing to summarize. Shorty then names the reason instead of summarizing the error page.
- Do I need an account to summarize web pages?
- No. Shorty summarizes web pages without an account and without a credit card. Signing in only adds a saved, searchable history of everything you have summarized.
- Is Shorty free to use?
- Yes. Shorty is free to use and does not require an account for the summarizer tools — paste or upload something and read the result. A free Shorty account keeps your history in a searchable library, and paid Premium and Pro plans raise the size and volume limits.
- Does a failed job still use up my quota?
- No. A Shorty job that ends in an error or is cancelled never counts against a quota — the usage is refunded automatically, so a failure costs nothing.
- What language is the summary written in?
- Shorty writes the summary in the language you pick from its menu of 113 languages, English unless you choose another, whatever language the source itself is in.
- Does Shorty have an API?
- Yes. Shorty has a public REST API at https://aishorty.com/v1, an official TypeScript SDK (@aishorty/sdk), and an OAuth 2.1 MCP server at https://aishorty.com/api/mcp that lets Claude and other AI assistants summarize, transcribe and search on your behalf.
