To log in, visit www.stockmarketgame.org with your ID and password. Upon logging in, you'll land on the account summary page. Be aware of important pop-up messages from your coordinator and national help desk. The account info section provides details like team ID, session date, ranking, equity, and trade types. The financial summary of your portfolio is updated overnight, not in real-time.
Team rankings compare your performance against other teams in your session. Region rankings compare your team within your assigned region, usually determined by grade and location. Coordinator rankings compare your team against all active teams in the session. The Newsfeed offers financial news for market current events and investment ideas.
Access the 'Rules of the Game' by hovering over 'Resources'. Here you can view national rules, and it's crucial to check local rules specific to your SMG program as well.
To enter a trade, hover over 'Trade' and click 'Enter a Trade'. This is where you'll make all buy and sell transactions. The 'Transaction Notes' page, accessed via 'Trade', shows details of all entered trades and their execution status. For real-time games, trades made during market hours are processed immediately. This page is updated in real-time, unlike the account summary.
Pending orders, accessible through 'Trade', lists trades not yet executed and updates in real-time. Trades made outside market hours or certain fund types will appear here until execution. The 'Account Holdings' page, found under 'Portfolio', displays information about stocks, bonds, and mutual funds currently in your portfolio. This page updates overnight. A pie chart shows your holdings by asset type for diversification analysis.
Account Holdings displays unrealized gains or losses. The 'Realized Gains and Losses' page shows equity gain or loss from sold securities, including earned interest and dividend payments.
