Dr. Robotnik is frustrated with his dim-witted robots. A salesman named Wes Weasley appears, offering his company's "Handy Dandy Super Villain Appliance Distributors Limited" (HDSVADL) products. He sells Robotnik the "Darkenator," a device that plunges the area into total darkness, claiming Sonic can't be fast in the dark. Robotnik purchases it along with infrared goggles for his robots.

Robotnik activates the Darkenator on Sonic, but the device malfunctions, and Sonic easily evades the robots by using their own confusion against them. Weasley then returns to offer the "Freeze Banger," a ray that freezes everything it hits. Robotnik buys two of them.

The Freeze Banger plan backfires when Sonic's heat melts the frozen robots, causing them to explode. Weasley, claiming "pilot error," introduces the "Gravity Stopper," a device that eliminates gravity, and self-gravity boots for Robotnik and his robots. Sonic and Tails are caught in the gravity-free zone.

Sonic and Tails, initially trapped without gravity to run, realize that with Tails' flight, they can actually move faster without resistance. They taunt Robotnik's robots, who refuse to turn off the Gravity Stopper, fearing Sonic will escape. When Sonic threatens to stay there forever, one robot, Grounder, is tricked into turning it off, causing everyone to fall back to the ground.

Weasley returns to sell the "Atomizer," which can make things disappear and reappear. Robotnik forces Weasley to demonstrate it and supervises. Robotnik, ignoring Weasley's warnings, presses a mysterious red switch on the Atomizer.

The red switch, instead of atomizing, creates multiple clones of Sonic. The robots panic as they are overwhelmed by the numerous Sonics. The real Sonic, with help from his clones, turns the Atomizer on Weasley, turning him into multiple pieces of cheese. After being reassembled, Weasley flees, blaming Robotnik for his failures.

Another salesman, Sid Shark, arrives, promising to rectify Weasley's failures. He presents the "Hedgehog Catching Vanquisher," which he reveals incorporates all of Weasley's previous failed inventions (darkenator, freeze banger, gravity stopper). He then reveals the newest feature: a giant net. Sonic and Tails escape as Robotnik is caught in the combined trap, highlighting the comedic futility of these villainous gadgets.
