Summary
Highlights
Sonic and Tails are caught mid-air by a gravity-stopping device. Sonic's speed is useless without gravity, giving Dr. Robotnik's henchmen, Scratch and Grounder, an advantage. Tails tries to fly them out of danger, but the henchmen use gravity boots to pursue them briefly before being tricked into turning the device off.
Dr. Robotnik confronts Wes Weasley, the salesman who sold him previous failing gadgets. Weasley tries to sell Robotnik a new device called the "Atomizer" that can make things disappear and reappear. Robotnik is skeptical but impressed by the demonstration, though he wants to use it to trap Sonic in a dungeon.
Robotnik takes the Atomizer, forcing Weasley to accompany him. During the chase, Robotnik accidentally presses a red button, turning the Atomizer into a cloner. Instead of disappearing, five Sonics appear, overwhelming Scratch and Grounder. The multiple Sonics then manage to turn Robotnik into a popcorn machine.
Weasley, having helped Sonic, flees from Robotnik, who is angered by the Atomizer's failure. Robotnik expresses frustration with Weasley and his products. Later, a new salesman, Sid Sharply, arrives to pitch a "Hedgehog Catching Vanquisher" to Robotnik, promising better results.
Sid Sharply demonstrates the new vanquisher, which includes a 'darkinator,' a 'freeze banger,' and an 'advanced gravity stopper.' Robotnik is skeptical but impressed as the device entraps Sonic. However, Robotnik tries to add a 'magnifying glass,' and the machine backfires explosively, sending him high into the sky and creating an advertising opportunity for Sharply.
