Summary
Highlights
Frustrated with Scratch and Grounder's incompetence, Dr. Robotnik decides to build a son in his own image, someone vicious and underhanded. He introduces Robotnik Jr., who immediately displays a mischievous and rebellious personality similar to his 'father'.
Robotnik decides to go 'camping' with Junior, which for him involves paving over a peaceful meadow with asphalt and building an airport. Sonic intervenes, thwarting their destructive plans and attracting Robotnik's ire. This is Junior's first encounter with Sonic, who his father despises.
Robotnik explains to Junior his latest plan to capture Sonic in a labyrinth and then flood the sewer system he's trapped in. Junior, despite his lack of enthusiasm for 'work', modifies the trap to include an extra trapdoor, which backfires and almost traps Sonic and himself.
After being demoted to laundry duty, Scratch and Grounder attempt to get rid of Junior by trapping him in cement while out fishing. Sonic rescues Junior, leading to a confrontation where Junior realizes Scratch and Grounder were the ones who betrayed him, not Sonic.
Robotnik, believing Junior is 'sick' for thinking Sonic helped him, prepares to use his 'extendo tower solar focusing lens ray' to scorch Sonic. Junior, having a change of heart, flies between Sonic and the lens to block the beam, saving Sonic and inadvertently causing the tower to malfunction.
After being saved by Sonic, Junior officially disowns Robotnik, declaring his allegiance to Sonic. Robotnik attempts one last trap, manipulating Junior to press a button, but Junior warns Sonic, solidifying his new alliance and highlighting the lesson of peer pressure.
