A chicken outsmarts a fox. Later, a robot captures the chicken. Sonic intervenes, saving the chicken and then Tails from the same robot.

Sonic attempts a risky maneuver with Tails, leading Tails to feel dizzy. Sonic decides to find a safer home for Tails. They visit a couple who seem overenthusiastic and chaotic, leading to several household mishaps.

Sonic takes Tails to live with Sergeant Doberman, a strict military figure, but Tails is unhappy with the rigorous training. Robotnik then broadcasts a fake missing child announcement, claiming to be Tails's 'real' parents, to lure him. Sonic, believing it's genuine, takes Tails to the address, and the 'parents' lavish Tails with gifts, promising him a safe life away from danger.

Sonic sadly leaves Tails with his 'new' parents. Once Sonic is gone, the 'parents' reveal themselves to be Robotnik's robots and capture Tails. Sonic, upon reflection, realizes that if they were Tails's real parents, they would have called him by his birth name, Miles, not Tails (the name Sonic gave him). This, combined with the fact that Robotnik's robots smelled, tips Sonic off that something is wrong.

Robotnik has set a trap for Sonic using the 'magnetic sneaker gripper hedgehog trap' and captures Tails. Robotnik sends a poorly written ransom note to Sonic. Sonic races to save Tails and disarms Robotnik's trap.

After saving Tails, Sonic apologizes for the trouble, and they acknowledge their bond as family. Tails affirms Sonic is his family, calling him his 'mom' and 'dad.' They express their love for each other and return home. The episode ends with Robotnik's robots discussing what makes a home, concluding that despite its imperfections, there's no place like home.
